Assemble no later than 11:00 AM March begins promptly at 11:30 AM

All rented regalia must be returned to The Bookie by 5PM on Friday, May 15th.


Faculty Regalia

If you plan to purchase custom regalia you need to allow extra time for ordering (6-8 weeks). The last day to purchase for the Spring ceremony will be March 27, 2020 at 5pm. Contact the Bookie (509)332-2537 or 800-937-4978 or wsubookie.graduation@gmail.com.

The last date to rent specific school regalia through the Bookie is March 27 at 5pm, 2020. After this date, you will only be able to get basic black regalia and the WSU standard hood. April 13 will be the last day to rent any regalia.

All regalia orders can be placed through the Bookie by using the online Regalia Order Form.

Regalia will be in the store and ready for pickup beginning Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

All regalia must be returned to the Bookie by 5PM on Friday, May 15, 2020.  The Bookie is open 8AM-7PM Saturday, May 9th; 9AM-4PM on Sunday, May 10th and 7:30AM-5PM Monday, May 11th- Friday, May 15th.


 

Stage Party #1 (Room #40)

The line-up area will be in the lower corridor of the coliseum. From the parking area enter through the SE tunnel doors located off North Fairway Drive (facing the baseball field) and take an immediate left up the corridor, proceed to the far end of the hall.

The President, provost, regents, vice presidents, honor guard, mace bearer, ASWSU On-line president, and Alumni President assemble in Room 40. Line up next to name on wall in the corridor by 11:40 AM.  This will be the last group to enter the processional after all the students.

Note: The honor guard (ASWSU and GPSA presidents) and mace Bearer (Faculty Senate chair) will robe in room 40 but will be the start of the line-up in the stairwell starting at 11:00 AM and will be the first to enter the processional.


 

Stage Party #2 (Room #41)

The line-up area will be in the lower corridor of the coliseum. From the parking area enter through the SE tunnel doors located off North Fairway Drive (facing the baseball field) and take an immediate left up the corridor, proceed to the far end of the hall.

All deans, commissioning officer, and APAC chair assemble in Room 41. Line up next to name on wall in stairwell at 11:00 AM and will be the first group in the processional after the mace and honor guard.


 

Front Row Faculty (Room #39)

Vice Provosts, Associate Vice Presidents, Associate Deans and other designated faculty, enter through the SE tunnel doors located off North Fairway Drive (facing the baseball field) and take an immediate left up the corridor, proceed to Room #39 on the left past the stairs and the Cougar Lounge.

Room #39 can be used to change and store personal belongings during the ceremony (this room will be locked during the ceremony.)

Line up next to your name in the stairwell at the far end of the corridor at 11:00 AM. You will be the first group in the processional after the mace and honor guard.


 

Hooding Faculty (Room #39)

Practice will be on Friday, May 8th at 2 PM at Beasley Coliseum.  Use the SE tunnel entrance located off North Fairway Drive (facing the baseball field) and come directly down on the floor.

Day of ceremony, enter through the same SE tunnel entrance and take an immediate left up the corridor, proceed to dressing room #39 on the left past the stairs. Use this room to change and store personal belongings during the ceremony (this room will be locked or have an attendant during the ceremony.)

Hooding faculty assemble by finding and standing next to their name taped to the wall between the beginning of the corridor and the stairs beginning at 11:00AM.  Note: names are taped on both sides of the wall in the proper order for the hooding ceremony.

Hooding faculty will be escorted by marshals to the angled section of seats located on both sides of the stage at the beginning of the processional. Remain standing.

During the hooding ceremony, as doctoral candidates are directed to come forward hooding faculty stand as a group then advance in single file to the designated area in front of the respective hooding table.  The names will be read alternately from the left and the right side of the floor. An assistant will hand the hood to the professor who then places it over the students head. After hooding and congratulating their candidate, hooding faculty immediately return to the end of their original row and rotate back to their seat.

During the recessional, follow the stage party down the center aisle and off Friel Court.


 

General Faculty

Departmental faculty play a very important role in assisting with the student processional, assisting in the line-up and keeping the students focused and moving.

Beginning at 11:00 AM general faculty will assemble by college with the undergraduate candidates outside on North Fairway Road. Beasley Lineup. They will march in with and sit among the students. See Map for details.

(In case of heavy rains, undergraduates and general faculty will be directed inside the coliseum.)


 

Order of Procession

Processional

From the SW stairwell the two honor guards walk side by side down the center aisle followed ten paces behind by the macebearer. Stopping in front of the podium at the small table, the honor guards will take a stand, one on each side of the table while the macebearer stands in front holding the mace.

Vice provosts, associate vice provosts, associate deans, designated faculty, and ROTC Cadre will be released in two lines down both outside aisles of the floor to the first rows on the floor same time as hooding faculty are ushered to their seats (look for name on program).

After all students process in the college gonfalons will be presented.

The president’s platform party will be introduced individually as they march down the center aisle. Each will walk to the center aisle, turn and pause slightly then proceed down the center aisle and around to the stairs on the right side of the stage (look for name on program at designated seat). The President will be last.

After the president is on stage the macebearer places the mace on the stand and followed by the honor guard proceeds to stage using the right side stairs.

Scripts will be placed on all the chairs for the stage party.


 

Recessional

In the recessional, the honor guard leads the mace bearer back to collect the mace from the stand and then leads the presidential party out through the SW stairwell (direction they marched in).

The hooding faculty, immediately follow (two lines), and then the front row (two lines).
